If You Want Cheap Workout Solutions – Think About Using Body Weight Exercises

Cool Exercise From The FlowFit Program

Bodyweight Exercises will be the next big trend in 2009.  With the uncertainty about personal finances everyone is facing, looking for ways to tighten the financial belt is a common tune these days.  If you’re the type of person who likes to stay in shape, but you’re not sure you can afford a gym membership again this year, you may be looking for options.

Some of you are blessed enough to have home gyms or to live in complexes with training rooms.  That’s a great alternative to the the gym and you can easily come up with a program to get the same results as you would at a commercial facility.  But what if you live in cramped quarters or just don’t want to clutter up your home with exercise equipment?  Not a problem.  All that is needed to get in exactly the shape you want is the weight of your own body.

Body weight exercise {has been around for centuries} in various physical cultures.  From the wrestlers in ancient Iran, to the strong old Yogis of the Indian peninsula to today’s modern gymnasts, there is a lengthy track record of building impressive bodies with bodyweight exercises and a few simple training tools.

But these incredible physiques were not fasioned with countless repetitions of the same two dimensional and boring exercises.  The exercises found in these ancient training systems are ,on their own, beautiful things.  The limitations to the variety of body weight training options are virtually without end, and your imagination is the only thing holding you back.

So if the thought of countless repetitions of push ups and sit ups leads you to despair, fear not.  There are countless options of exercise requiring no equipment that you can work into workout regimens for any goal.  Whether fat loss, muscle gain, strength, general athleticism or overall well being, the only thing you need is the weight of your own body, some guidance on which bodyweight exercises are most efficient, some imagination and some good old fasioned hard work.

One great source for bodyweight exercise ideas is YouTube.  Do a search for bodyweight exercise and dig in.  Pay particular attention to anything from Scott Sonnon, founder of the Circular Strength Training system (CST), and Adam Steer, CST Head Coach.  They both have some great tutorials of imaginative exercises requiring no equipment.  If you want to skip the YouTube search you can take a look at the Squidoo Lens devoted to body weight exercises for the road warrior.  There you’ll find a selection of different clips.  Click through to the original YouTube source and you’ll be well on your way to discovering the hidden body weight exercise treasures.

You can also grab a free tutorial of the number one best bodyweigh exercise around, the Quad Squat, by grabbing yourself the free gift package over at the Better Is Better blog.  The Quad Squat is a great starter exercise and will give you many ideas so you’ll be making up your own training variations in no time.

And finally, you can consider examples of great movement for ideas.  I like to watch gymnasts, breakdancers and Cirque du Soleil performers to get inspiration for bodyweight routines.  Usually, their skills are way beyond what we mere mortals can expect to accomplish, but by analyzing the movements into bite sized pieces we can come up with some pretty exciting and efficient variations to plug into our training.

No excuses.  I predict this cheap and effective way of exercise will turn out to be the big trend this year.  Give bodyweight excercises a try.  Not only could you save a few bucks on your gym membership, you may find that you wind up achieving your dream body when 2010 rolls around.
