What Are Amino Acids?

The body is made up of mostly water and protein, and protein is made up of amino acids. When a person ingests any type of extra protein into their body, such as multivitamins, this can upset the delicate balance of these acids that function in the body to keep it working properly. A person should become as educated as possible before they begin to take any type of herbal nutrition supplements that may contain extra protein. These cell components are an essential part of the body’s make up and keeping a balance is the key to a healthy life.

When beginning to understand amino acids a person must first understand what types exist. Two types are known. They are the essential amino acids and non essential amino acids. Those that are non essential can be made by the body. However, essential acids must be taken in through food or other nutrition vitamins. If one does not take the proper multi vitamins that are loaded with essential acids only, then the balance between essential and non essential acids will be upset.

Many different types of essential amino acids exist. One that many people are familiar with is tryptophan. Around the holidays, this essential amino acid can prove to make people very sleepy. Another well known essential amino acid is phenylalanine. Phenylalanine is not metabolized by those who have the blood disease PKU. As for essential acids in supplements, some say that benefits exist for those who exercise, but there is little scientific proof to back up this claim. Learning about amino acids can ensure that a person makes the most informed choice when they begin to look at what type of multi vitamins they will take. Since these little molecules are very important building blocks that can keep a person safe and well balanced, knowing all one can about what makes up their body is very important. Balance in life and body is vital, and in order to keep this balance, knowledge is the answer.
